The West Athens Clinic, Dialysis Hemodialysis Unit was created with the goal of enabling dialysis patients from all over the world to visit and enjoy their holidays in one of Greece’s most famous destinations, the beautiful city of Athens, one of the world’s oldest cities, with its recorded history spanning over 3,400 years. Athens has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate (Köppen climate classification).
Our state-of-the-art dialysis facilities comply with European health and safety directives and are designed to the high standards of a luxury hotel, aimed at offering a seamless transition between your holiday activities in Athens and neighboring islands and your dialysis treatments.
Day 1- Welcome to Athens
Meet and greet at the Athens airport.
Transfer to the chosen accommodation by private car or minivan.
Check-in at the hotel.
Day 2 Dialysis Day
You will be picked up from your hotel at the preferred time for the dialysis treatment. After finishing the treatment, a transfer will be waiting for you to return to the hotel.
Day 3 Half day Athens city tour – 5 hours
With the half-day sightseeing and Acropolis museum tour, you’ll see all the famous sites of ancient and modern Athens on this comprehensive morning tour, from the Acropolis to Omonia Square. Hear insightful commentary from your guide and pass top Athens attractions, including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Greek Parliament building, and Presidential Palace. Offering a perfect overview of the modern city, this guided half-day tour will help you get your bearings if this is your first visit to Athens.
The Athens half-day tour departs for a photo stop at Panathinaiko Stadium, where the first Olympic Games took place in 1896. It is the only stadium built out of white marble. Proceed, passing by Zappeion and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. You will then pass the Athens Trilogy, which includes the University of Athens, the Academy of Athens, and the National Library.
Continue passing by the National Garden, Hadrian’s Arc, St. Paul’s Church, Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Schliemann’s House (Numismatic Museum), Catholic Cathedral, Old Parliament, Constitution Square, Russian Orthodox Church, and finally Acropolis (visit Propylaea, the gateway, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon, and Erechtheion with its Porch of Maidens). Stroll up to the UNESCO-listed site that served as the ancient citadel and tour the buildings as you hear how they reflected Athens’ prosperity in the 5th century BC.
Continue the expertly guided Athens sightseeing and museum tour with a pleasant short walk, passing by Herodion and Dionysos Theater, in order to visit the Acropolis museum. Avoid and bypass the long lines at the new museum.
Main attractions such as votives, artifacts of everyday life, statues from the archaic period, Caryatids, and of course the Parthenon hall with the metopes, the pediments, and the frieze will impress you.
Day 4 Dialysis Day
You will be picked up from your hotel at the preferred time for the dialysis treatment. After finishing the treatment, a transfer will be waiting for you to return to the hotel.
Day 5 Full day tour to Delphi – 10 hours
Enjoy our awarded TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2019 tour and depart from our terminal for a one-day trip from Athens to explore the UNESCO-listed Archaeological Site of Delphi with an expert guide and learn how the city was considered the “Center of the World” in ancient Greece and is today one of the most famous archaeological sites of Greece. Along the way, you will see the plain of Boeotia, an agricultural center, and you will also pass by the city of Theva, the birthplace of King Oedipus.
Immerse yourself in the myths and monuments of classical Greece on this full-day tour of Delphi from Athens. After meeting your guide in Athens, hear tales about the ancient Greeks and their lives in Delphi while traveling to the town by air-conditioned coach. You will reach Delphi while traveling towards Mt. Parnassos, making a short rest stop outside the town of Levadia.
The first stop is a tour of the Delphi archaeological site, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and easily one of Europe’s most important digs. Avoid and skip the lines at the archaeological site and walk around the evocative ruins with your guide. See famous monuments like the monument of the Argive Kings, the treasury of the Athenians, the Athenian Stoa, the Polygonal Wall, the monument of Platea, and the Temple of Apollo, famous for its oracle.
The Delphi museum is the second stop, with spectacular exhibits such as the Treasury of the Sifnians frieze, the Naxian Sphinx, the Statue of Antinoos, the Athenian Treasury metopes, the famous bronze charioteer, originally created to commemorate a victory during the 476 B.C. Pythian Games, and many other artifacts. Be sure to check out the bronze charioteer of Delphi and the Sphinx of Naxos.
After a lunch break, visit the Athena Pronaia Sanctuary, the most photographed spot in Delphi. Return to Athens, passing by the picturesque mountain village of Arachova, built on the south slopes of Parnassus and well known for its attractive hand-woven carpets, rugs, and quilts, as well as for its wine and cheese (short photo stop).
Day 6 Dialysis Day
You will be picked up from your hotel at the preferred time for the dialysis treatment. After finishing the treatment, a transfer will be waiting for you to return to the hotel.
Day 7 Day to relax
Enjoy the last day to relax on the Athens Riviera.
A wide range of activities and experiences (e.g., the F/D Aegina-Poros and Hydra islands tour, F/D tour to Mykines-Nafplion, etc.) can be booked optionally.
Day 8 Departure
We will arrange individual transfers to the airport for your departure.
A prolongation program and additional dialysis treatment can be arranged.
